Central Romania: New EUR 43.5 mln ice rink planned in Sfantu Gheorghe
The City Hall of Sfantu Gheorghe in Covasna County, central Romania, is seeking contractors for a RON 216.6 mln (EUR 43.5 mln) artificial ice rink.
The new sports facility will have a capacity of 2,180 seats and will be located next to the Sepsi Arena and the Sepsi OSK stadium, Ziarul Financiar reported.
The project is financed by the Ministry of Development through the National Investment Company (NIC), which already launched the tender seeking a contractor. The deadline for companies to submit bids is July 25, according to a press release from Sfantu Gheorghe City Hall.
The new ice rink will offer skating, sports and recreation facilities for the inhabitants, while the ice hockey team will also have a new headquarters, in addition to the one in Targu Secuiesc.
The two-storey artificial ice rink will have a usable area of 12,000 sqm and a built area of 7,623 sqm. The building will be able to accommodate 2,180 spectators and will also be suitable for international tournaments and community events.
