IMF team assists Romania in checking high wealth individuals
A team of experts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is in Romania between April 7 and 20 on a technical mission at the Romanian Fiscal Authority (ANAF) to assist it in controlling high wealth individuals in the country.
The mission also aims at monitoring whether the IMF's recommendations from the previous mission have been implemented. The IMF specialists will provide support in creating the risk analysis procedures which will lead to the selection of the high wealth individuals which will be checked by ANAF. The team will also asses the professional training level of the ANAF inspectors.
Romania's Government decided last year to check the wealth of individuals whose real revenues exceed by at least RON 50,000 (around EUR 12,000) the ones declared on paper. They would have to pay an income tax of 16 percent on the difference.
