International banks interested in financing Romania’s Comarnic-Brasov highway, minister says
The European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the World Bank have shown interest in financing Romania’s Comarnic-Brasov highway, according to the Romanian Minister delegate for infrastructure projects, Dan Sova.
The highway constructors will be designated in early-December and the cost amounts to some EUR 1.3 billion, added the minister. Works on the new highway will begin in April 2014 and might be completed in 2016 or 2017.
“It depends on two things: the geological problems they might find along the way, because there are three tunnels to be made and it will not be very easy, and also the weather. If the weather is good, they might complete the highway at the end of 2016, but if the weather doesn’t help, the works might end in the summer of 2017,” said Sova, quoted by local news agency Mediafax.
The speed limit on the Comarnic-Brasov highway, which will have a length of 58 km, will be 130 km per hour.
