International bookmakers credit Romania with poor chance for Eurovision song competition

16 March 2011

Romania's entry song to the Eurovision competition, called 'Change' and played by the Romanian band Hotel FM has a small chance at ranking between the first songs of this year’s Eurovision, according to international bookmakers. Listen to the song below.

Currently, the odds for Romania winning the contest are 41,00 on bet365, according to Romanian media, putting it on the 17nth place on the list of possible winners. That means if one bets a little over EUR 2 on the Romanian song, and it wins, one will gain almost EUR 100. Austria, Greece, Ukraine, Switzerland and Finland have the same odds.

On the other hand, the song that is most likely to win comes from France (the odds are 6.00), followed by song from Norway and England. Last year, Romania was represented at the Eurovision by Paula Seling and Ovidiu Cernauteanu with the song “Playing with Fire”, which came in 3rd. The Eurovision song contest will take place in Düsseldorf, Germany, on May 14 this year.
