International film festival in Romania's Danube Delta starting next week
The international film festival Anonimul (Anonymous Film Festival) will run from August 6 to 12 in Sfantu Gheorghe, one of the towns of the Danube Delta in Romania. 'The Door', a film by Hungarian director Istvan Szabo, will open the festival.
The film stars veteran British actress Helen Mirren and tells the story of the relationship between two women, Magda, a writer looking for meaning in life, and Emerence, a well respected but lonely person. The film is based on the book of the same name by Magda Szabo, which won the French literary award Prix Femina Etranger in 2003.
The festival will also feature a film by Romanian director Tudor Giurgiu. The film, called 'Despre oameni şi melci' (Of Men and Snails) tells the story of a bankrupt factory in Romania in the early nineties. It is the directors second feature length film to date, after 'Legături Bolnăvicioase' (Unhealthy Relationships) in 2006.
