International Guitar Festival opens with Beatles-themed piece this week

The International Guitar Festival, which will take place between March 16 and 23 in Bucharest, at the Radio Hall, will be opened by the musical themes of The Beatles, performed by the Radio Hall Orchestra, conducted by Gian Luigi Zampieri.

The program includes Introduction and fugue on Beatles themes, by G. Panella, three Symphonic Preludes for King Oedip, by I. Pizzeti, Guitar and Orchestra Concerto in Re Major, Opera 99, by M. Castelnuovo Tedesco and the 2nd Symphony in La Minor, Opera 55, by C. Saint Saens.

The second concert of the festival is set for Friday, March 18, starting 19,00 hours. On this occasion, the international guitar player Goran Krivokapic and the German conductor Ralf Sochaczewsky will come onto the stage of Radio Hall.

The third night of the festival will give the audience the chance of listening to the Overture of Freischutz Opera, by C.M Weber, The Guitar and Orchestra Concerto by H.Villa Lobos and The 2nd Symphony in Re major, opera 73, by J. Brahms. The public will experience an energetic classical programme, with romantic influences but also unpredictable, due to the improvisations of the guitar pieces. The conductor Gian Luigi Zampieri was the last student of maestro Franco Ferrara. Zampieri completed his musical studies under the guidance of Francesco De Masi, Carlo Maria Giulini, Rozhdestvensky Ghenadi, Leonard Bernstein and at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and the Chigi Academy in Siena. He has performed with famous orchestras from all around the world, such as Haifa Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta de Euskadi (Basque Country-Spain), Philharmonic Orchestra of University City Mexico, Radio Room Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra George Enescu, Opera Tirana (Albania), Orchestra "Haydn" di Bolzano e Trento, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Symphonic Orchestra Abruzzese, The Verona Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Beatles, made of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, was one of the most famous band in the history of rock music, having sold over 1.1 billion discs in the entire world.
