International movies with political themes screened at Cinepolitica Festival in Bucharest this April

The second edition of Cinepolitica International Film Festival, an event dedicated to films with mainly political themes, is currently taking place at Studio Cinema and Elvira Popescu Cinema in Bucharest, between April 2 and April 7, 2013.

For five days, film lovers can take part in debates and meetings and see movies screened in the festival’s International Competition, which will compete for the Cinepolitica Trophy and the Cinepolitica Special Award. Most of the films will be screened in Romania for the first time and will be presented by their directors and producers.

The festival’s program at Studio Cinema includes movies such as the Academy Award-nominated documentary The Gatekeeper, directed by Dror Moreh, 80 Million - directed by Waldemar Krzystek, Camp 14: Total Control Zone - directed by Marc Wiese, Redemption Street - Miroslav Terzić and Lore - directed by Cate Shortland.

At Elvira Popescu Cinema, cinema-goers can watch the screenings of Illegal - directed by Olivier Masset-Depasse, The Moonless Night - Artan Minarolli, Witness to Hope: The Life of Karol Wojtyla, Pope John Paul II - Judith Dwan Hallet, The Valley Resounds - directed by Paul Călinescu, The Exam - Péter Bergendy, Shortly About Politics - six recent short films on political subjects, Jews for Sale - directed by Radu Gabrea, Hitler’s Children ­- directed by Chanoch Ze'evi and Robert Redford’s The Company You Keep [trailer below].

The festival’s jury will include personalities from the film industry and the press.

Tickets for the event cost RON 10 per screening (RON 7 for students and children) at Studio Cinema and RON 10 per screening at Elvira Popescu Cinema. Each of the cinemas will sell tickets only for their own screenings. Find out more about the event and see the entire program here.
