iPhone 6 to be launched today. When will it be available in Romania?
The much anticipated iPhone 6, the latest generation of Apple’s iconic smartphone, will be launched today in the US in a ceremony that will start at around 8:00 PM, Bucharest time. As usual, leaked information and pictures that have been uploaded on the internet in the last months, created a hype for this event and all the tech enthusiasts, and not only them, are waiting to see how the new flagship model from Apple will look like and, most of all, what new things it will be able to do.
In Romania, the iPhone 6 launch is highly expected as well, although none of the major mobile carriers has officially announced a release date for the model. In the past, Orange and Vodafone, the two largest mobile operators in Romania, were the first to launch the iPhone models, but this year German Deutsche Telekom might have a surprise, as it prepares to officially launch its T brand on the Romanian market this weekend, which will replace the Romtelecom and Cosmote brands. Deutsche Telekom might launch the iPhone 6 for its customers on September 19, according to international media, but it's uncertain if the model will be available at the same time in all the countries where the group is active.
The launch of iPhone 6 will also likely reduce the price for other recent generation models, such as iPhone 5S. Currently, the iPhone 5S is available for EUR 349 in Orange Shop, with a two-year data subscription of EUR 41 per month, while at Vodafone prices for the model start at EUR 154, but with a EUR 59 per month subscription. At Cosmote, prices for iPhone 5S start from EUR 317 with a EUR 45 per month subscription.
The iPhone 5S can also be bought without subscription, with prices starting from about EUR 623 at eMAG online store.
