Irish comedy The Guard and Cannes winner In The Fog to be screened at upcoming European Film festival in Bucharest
Bucharest will be home to European film screenings in May, when the yearly European Film Festival will take place, now in its 17th edition. Scheduled between May 9 and 11, it will feature some of the most recent European films, some of which were awarded internationally.
The opening on May 9, starting 19,00 at Cinema Studio will feature the screening of the Irish comedy The Guard, directed by John Michael McDonagh (trailer below). The film got the Best debut Film award at the Berlin Film Festival in 2011 and was nominated for the Golden Globes, for best actor - Brendan Gleeson – in 2012.
Other movies which will be screened in this edition are In The Fog, a co-production directed by Sergei Loznitsa. The screening is set for May 11, at 19,30, at Cinema Studio. The film got the FIPRESCI award at the Cannes Film festival in 2012. The Romanian documentary '8 Martie' (March 8) by Alexandru Belc will also be shown.

The European Film Festival is organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute – ICR, in partnership with the Filmmakers union in Romania, the National Film Archive, the Croatian, Finland, Ireland Embassies, the Balassi Institute, the Serbian, Slovakia, Spanish and Sweden Embassies, as well as the Cinepolitica festival, Libra Film, Voodoo Films and the National Arts University in Bucharest.
Entry to all screenings is free of charge, but the number of seats may fill up quickly.
