Italian caught with cocaine at Bucharest airport

An Italian citizen was caught at the Bucharest airport while trying to pass the control area with around 73 grams of cocaine in his bag.

The incident occurred on Saturday, May 5. The 42-year-old Italian citizen was trying to get to Ibiza, according to the Border Police. He presented an Italian ID card at the control point but the authorities thought there was something suspicious about it so they scanned it and discovered it was a fake. Thus, they decided to check the man’s bags as well and found the 73 grams of cocaine hidden in a bag with clothes inside his checked luggage.

The man admitted the substance found in his luggage is cocaine and said he bought it for his own consumption, according to the Border Police. He had paid EUR 2,000 for it.

However, he was detained for 24 hours for further investigation.
