Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta oficially announced in an interview at Adevarul Live on Thursday, July 24, that he will run for presidency this year.

“I will run. On Tuesday, on the 29th, I will ask within the Social Democratic Party PSD, because I already have the support of PC and UNPR, I will ask the support for the candidacy (…) and in September we need a congress,” said Ponta.

According to a recent survey conducted by INSCOP Research, 52 percent of the respondents believe that Romania’s current Prime Minister will win the presidential elections in the country in November this year.
