Joint metro and bus tickets to be introduced in Bucharest

01 November 2012

Commuters in Bucharest will have new ticket options starting Saturday, November 3. Joint metro and above ground public transport (RATB) tickets will be sold, adding to the existing transport tickets.

The new tickets will be divided in three types: the first, which will cost RON 5, will be valid one hour upon first validation on both the metro system and RATB; the second one, priced RON 30, will have 10 trips of 60 minutes each. Tickets can be validated an unlimited number of times during their validity period on both RATB and metro trains.

The third type is the one day subscription, which will cost RON 16 and be valid 24 hours from the first validation on either RATB or the metro system.

The Bucharest General Council approved at the end of September the joint tariffs for the Bucharest public transport, so as to introduce new types of tickets, initially for RATB and the metro, then for the trains around Bucharest, run by CFR Calatori.
