Romanian President Klaus Iohannis launches sequel to his best-selling book

06 April 2015

Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis will launch a new book in this year’s edition of the Bookfest International Book Fair in Bucharest. The launch will take place on Saturday, May 23.

The book, called The First Step (Primul Pas), reveals backstage information from Iohannis’ presidential campaign, in October and November 2014, and from his first days as President. He assumed office on December 21, 2014.

Klaus Iohannis, 55, launched his first book Step by Step (Pas cu pas) at the Gaudeamus book fair, in November 2014, after he won the presidential elections. The event was by far the fair's main attraction and Iohannis signed more than 2,000 autographs.

The book sold almost 8,000 copies at the book fair and over 130,000 copies overall, setting new sales records in Romania.

Curtea Veche Publishing, the book’s publisher, got requests to translate the book in Bulgarian, German, Hungarian and Dutch. Curtea Veche also publishes Iohannis’ second book.

The Bookfest International Book Fair takes place between May 20 and May 24 at Romexpo. The Czech Republic will be the fair’s guest of honor.
