Bucharest’s shopping center Sun Plaza, located near the Piata Sudului metro station, saw a record number of visitors last year, of almost 14 million, up 3% over 2015.

The result places Sun Plaza among the top 3 local shopping centers based on the number of visitors, after Baneasa Shopping City and AFI Palace Cotroceni.

The sales of the retailers in Sun Plaza increased by 18% over 2015, according to the company. Its representatives, however, haven’t provided exact figures about the sales, but they ranged between EUR 200-240 million, according to estimates by Ziarul Financiar.

In December 2016, the mall’s developer, Austrian company S Immo, announced that it would invest EUR 75 million in remodeling Sun Plaza and developing the office project The Mark.
