The largest natural park in Eastern Europe, located in the Romanian city of Craiova, will be revamped with EUR 11 million worth of European, reports local Digi24. The Nicoale Romanescu Park in Craiova will be upgraded for the first time, more than 100 years after its inauguration.

The park’s alleys, as well as the waterfalls and the lighting system will be restored in this programme. An irrigation system and a video surveillance system will also be installed in the park.

The City Hall plans to start this week the selection process for the company that will conduct the revamping work.

Completed in 1903, Nicolae Romanescu park covers some 100 hectares, which makes it the largest natural park in Eastern Europe. The park also includes the oldest zoo in the country.
