Legendary Count Basie Orchestra to perform in Bucharest this May

The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra will be coming to Bucharest for another authentic jazz show on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, starting at 20:00 at the Sala Palatului. The orchestra will be led by Dennis Mackrel and Carmen Bradford will sing.

The orchestra was founded in 1935 by pianist and band leader William Count Basie, in Kansas City, USA. Count Basie and his band soon became one of the most celebrated swing orchestras during the golden age of Big Band Music. The legendary Count Basie collaborated with all the greats, including Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Ethel Waters, Sarah Vaughan, Joe Williams, Frank Sinatra and Duke Ellington. His music lives on and he is undoubtedly among the greatest jazz musicians of all time.

The band has outlived the Count and now Dennis Mackrel leads the Count Basie Orchestra and has maintained its place among the international jazz elites. The Count Basie Orchestra has won 17 Grammys, more than any other big band in history.

The tickets costs from RON 75 to RON 300 depending on the category and can be purchased online on www.eventim.ro or the Eventim network.
