Legendary rock guitarist Joe Satriani adds Romania to European tour in 2013
The legendary instrumental rock guitarist Joe Satriani will perform for the first time in Romania in May this year, having included the country in his 2013 European tour. Satriani, who has sold over 10 million albums and had 14 Grammy awards and other awards nominations during his career, will be on the Sala Palatului stage in Bucharest on May 20, starting 20:00.
The 57-year old guitarist is known for his blistering high speed virtuoso technique and for having played with Deep Purple and Mick Jagger in the late 80s- early 90s. Satriani has also released many solo recordings. He is currently the lead guitarist with super group Chickenfoot. Since 1988, Satriani has been using his own signature guitar, the Ibanez JS Series, which is sold in music stores worldwide. Listen to one of his performances below.
Satriani, born in Westbury, New York, was inspired to play guitar at 14, after the death of Jimi Hendrix. Throughout his life, he has also taught guitar, and some of his famous students include Kirk Hammett of Metallica and the legendary Steve Vai.
