Lenovo completes acquisition of IBM’s x86 server business in Romania
Tech companies Lenovo and IBM recently announced that they have successfully completed the acquisition of the x86 business servers division in Romania and ended the relocation of IBM x86 employees and operations to Lenovo, according to a company statement.
Lenovo has completed the acquisition of IBM’s x86 server division worldwide, the announcement being originally made on October 1, 2014. Due to the large number of countries and processes involved in the Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), the company announced that the employees and operations in this region will be moved over a period of a few months to ensure a smooth integration.
The completion of the acquisition expands Lenovo’s capabilities in services and hardware for companies, placing the company on a top position on the servers market, according to its statement.
Lenovo and IBM have also established a strategic alliance where Lenovo will serve as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to IBM and will resell select products from IBM’s industry-leading storage and software portfolio.
Lenovo Group is a Chinese multinational computer technology company with a turnover of USD 39 billion.
