German car parts group Leoni opens new EUR 17.5 mln plant in Romania

28 June 2023

German group Leoni Wiring Systems opened its tenth factory in western Romania, at Beius (Bihor County), after EUR 17.5 million investments in refurbishing an outdated industrial facility and equipment.

More will be invested in training the workforce, expected to reach 1,200.

“Overall, we have 180,000 square meters of production space, and we are among the top exporters at the national level, the largest employer in Bistrita-Nasaud and among the largest employers in Romania, with over 12,000 active employees. Also, since 2016 we have a Shared Services Center in Cluj that serves several of the functions of the group we are part of,” Leoni country manager Andrada Verdes told Bursa.ro.

The new plant in Beiuş is dedicated to the production of wiring systems for commercial vehicles.

The facility will contribute to new or future projects of Leoni Romania. It is also relevant for the local community because, at full capacity, the factory will employ 1,200.

“This makes us the largest local employer and a very important one at the regional level,” Verdes added.
