In order to conduct its investment in Brasov, in central Romania, retailer Lidl wants to demolish the buildings of the former Cibo chocolate factory and sell part of the land to an investor to build a hotel, reports Bzb.ro.

Mondelez Romania, the former Kraft, which earlier this year sold the former Poiana factory to the German retailer, is currently trying to obtain authorization to demolish the construction located in Brasov.

Lidl Romania paid more than EUR 2.1 million for the land plot of some 9,800 sqm, or some EUR 220 per sqm.

The Cibo factory was the oldest chocolate factory in Transylvania.
