Local drug distributor Ropharma wants 20% profit rise this year

Romanian drug distributor, producer and retailer Ropharma Braşov wants to up its turnover by 12 percent this year, close to the EUR 100 million threshold.

Its profit expectations are also higher, at some EUR 3 million, 20 percent more than last year.

The company, listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE), was last year number 9 among national drug distributors and number 5 on the national drug retail market, according to company data.

The Romanian pharma retail market was worth EUR 2.2 billion last year, up 7.5 percent on the year before.

Ropharma is controlled by Romanian businessman Mihai Miron, who owns 44.9 percent of its shares. Private pension fund ING also owns 5.5 percent of Ropharma's sales.
