Local family business makes traditional poultry farm with EUR 10 million
Local company Avicarvil, part of family-owned group 'Ana si Cornel' has finalized the first stage of the investment in “La Provincia, pui de casa” (La Provincia, farm chicken), whose business model relies on raising chicken in a traditional way and then selling poultry on the Romanian market. The company plans to invest in a a fodder factory which should be fueled by locally-produced fodder. The investment plan has a budget of EUR 10 million, with some of it covered by European funds. By 2013, Avicarvil plans to deliver 12,000 tonnes of poultry every year, according to Iustin Paraschiv, the owner of the business.
The company was set up in 2008, when it took over the Agro division from Oltchim. So far the company sold 180 tonnes of La Provincia poultry, which it markets as a healthier product. It hopes to sell 400 tonnes of poultry by the end of the year, all of which coming from the La Provincia farm.
The company is part of the 'Ana si Cornel' group, which run a turnover of EUR 150 million last year. The group includes 'Ana si Cornel' cold meats producer and retailer, as well as 87 stores in various Romanian counties. The group, owned by the Paraschiv family, employees 2,000 people.
