Romanian telecom company RCS&RDS has attracted around 500,000 new clients for fixed internet services in the last two and a half years, and now controls half of the market with over 1.6 million subscriptions, shows the bond issue prospectus, according to Ziarul Financiar.

In 2009, the telecom company controlled about 36 percent of Romania’s internet market, compared to almost 47 percent at the end of 2012.

According to the document, RCS&RDS has almost 2.4 million clients for cable TV services, namely a share of over 61 percent of the total market, reports Zf.ro.

RCS&RDS is controlled by Romanian businessman Zoltan Teszari. Besides Romania, the company also operates in Hungary, Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia and Serbia.

Created 15 years ago, RCS&RDS employs some 6,500 people and offers cable TV, internet, fixed and mobile telephony services in 200 cities in Romania.
