The location where the third Romania-Bulgaria bridge over the Danube river might be built should become known within the next two months, said Konstantin Zhiponov, the general manager of EKJ Bulgaria, reports BTA news agency, cited by local Capital.

He added that the area’s level of development will be taken into account when choosing the location, this being a rather socio-economic issue, than a technical one.

The four possible options are Silistra/Calarasi, Ruse/Giurgiu - where one of the two existing bridges is already located, Nikopol/Turnu Magurele and Oryahovo/Bechet.

The Calafat-Vidin bridge, the second one linking Romania and Bulgaria, has a length of some 2 km, four lanes, a rail crossing, pedestrian crossings and bike path.
