Long, sunny autumn to be followed by extreme weather this winter in Romania
After an unusually long and warm autumn, Romania should brace itself for an equally unusual winter, with extreme snowing, blizzards and very low temperatures, meteorologists warn. Winter will be in full swing however only after November 23, mainly in the Northern area of the country and in the mountainous areas. As for snow, it is too early to tell when it will first snow across Romania this season, with meteorologists confident they will be able to foresee it only ten days in advance.
However, they expect at least one blizzard in December and at least two in the beginning of the year, in January and February.
It will rain and snow this winter in Romania - apparently not enough to completely restore the humidity reserves of the soil, but enough to prevent the country from seeing its next crops fail.
Romania faced a tough winter in the beginning of 2012, when it was hit by blizzards and freezing temperatures that also affected the entire Eastern European region. Low temperatures and snow blizzards disrupted life and activity in the country in early February 2012.
