Ludovic Orban, the president of Romania’s National Liberal Party (PNL), believes Romania is ready for the union with the Republic of Moldova, and said his party supports this idea.

“Even if there is no plan or strategy to be shared by all politicians in Romania, I am convinced that Romania is ready for this union. As for our thoughts, we act through all the legal and constitutional possibilities that we have,” Orban said at the end of a meeting with a delegation of unionist mayors and local councilors from Moldova, local Mediafax reported.

Ludovic Orban also said he would urge PNL mayors to develop relations of cooperation and joint programs with mayors and local councils in the Moldovan localities.

“In the union declarations adopted by the mayors, they know that there must be a will expressed in the Republic of Moldova in favor of this union. I am convinced that (...) once this will exist, Romania is ready, "said Ludovic Orban.

Several localities in the Republic of Moldova adopted symbolic declarations of union with Romania. Moreover, some Romanian cities also adopted similar declarations, with the most recent one being the city of Buzau in Eastern Romania.
