Mall collapse in Romania results in EUR 2 mln damages and 3 years prison
The Oradea Court recently ruled a three-year jail sentence for an engineer for the crash that occurred on February 12, 2009, during the construction of the Oradea Plaza commercial center, where a worker died and three others were seriously injured, reports local Capital.ro.
Engineer Samuel Muj was sentenced to 3 years in prison and Professor Gheorghe Popa received 2 years of probation, while their right to practice has been withdrawn for five years after serving the sentences. Both defendants, jointly with Timisoara-based firms Con Sam Pro and Con Sam Adviser and the Polish group WSP Polska Sp. will have to pay civil damages of over EUR 2 million.
