Mayor: Bucharest’s Triumphal Arch should be revamped by December 2015

25 June 2014

The ongoing revamping work conducted at Bucharest’s Triumphal Arch could be completed before December 1, 2015, according to Sorin Oprescu, the mayor of Bucharest.

“I hope a parade will be organized here on December 1, 2015. We’re trying to find a solution for a passage that will ease access to the Triumphal Arch, this intersection is however dangerous and we don’t want to confuse neither drivers nor pedestrians,” said the mayor, cited by local Agerpres.

The Triumphal Arch in Bucharest is 27 meters tall and is located at the crossroad between Kiseleff and Constantin Prezan, Alexandru Averescu and Alexandru Constantinescu boulevards. It was built in 1922 and renovated in 1936.

The monument commemorates Romania’s victory in the First World War.
