Media: FC Barcelona are after young Romanian footballer
Spanish football club FC Barcelona, one of Europe’s top clubs, are apparently interested in signing young Romanian footballer Andrei Ivan, who currently plays for local club CS Universitatea Craiova, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, quoted by local Mediafax.
The 19-year-old Ivan has had a good season this year with Romanian top league team CSU Craiova for which he has played 18 matches and scored 4 goals. He also made his debut in Romania’s national football team in a friendly match against Italy.
Ivan has been watched by FC Barcelona’s scouts who think he has the qualities necessary to make it into the first Spanish league - Primera Division.
FC Barcelona want the player on loan until the end of the season with the option to purchase him in summer for EUR 4 million. Ivan would play for the club’s second team, but he would also get a chance to play for the first team, according to the Spanish newspaper.
Andrei Ivan’s agent, Sorin Paraschiv, has confirmed FC Barcelona’s interest in the player, but said that the Spanish club hadn’t made any concrete offer, according to local DigiSport.ro.
Romanian club Steaua Bucharest have also made an offer for Andrei Ivan of some EUR 3 million, but the player would be more interested in moving to an international club.
In November 2015, CSU Craiova reportedly wanted EUR 7 million for the young player.
