Media: Romanians, among foreigners running for local office in France
Two Romanians are running for municipal office in the French regions of Rhône and Pyrénées-Orientales on behalf of the Rassemblement Bleu Marine party, which is supported by the National Front. Romanians thus join Portuguese, Spaniards, and a Bulgarian who also run for office in the region, according to 20minutes.fr.
The National Front however is publicly against giving voting rights to foreigners for the French elections, irrespective of their EU member state origin.
Elsewhere in the counties of Drôme and Ardèche, 130 foreign candidates are running for local office, our of which several Romanians, according to francebleu.fr. The 33-year old Romanian Ana Lumânaru is running for office in Annonay.
