Medieval festival in Romania wants to set three Guinness Book records

01 July 2015

The organizers of Romania's Medieval Festival in Sighisoara want to set no less than three Guinness Book records at this year’s edition.

“Scena Theater Cultural Association, the festival’s organizer, decided to enter the race for the Guinness Book of Records for the largest sword made during a medieval festival, the largest flag hoisted during a medieval art festival, and the largest round pretzel in the world, with a diameter of some 20 meters,” said the festival’s artistic director Liviu Pancu, cited by local Agerpres.

The sword will be 4-meter high, and will be made during the festival by craftsmen from Targu Mures, Sighisoara, and Bistrita. Moreover, a 30-meter flag will be hoisted on the Clock Tower located at the citadel's entrance, while 50 volunteers and bakery professionals will work on baking the giant pretzel.

The Medieval Sighisoara Festival will take place between July 23 and July 26 this year. Last year, the festival sold more than 20,000 tickets.
