MedLife plans EUR 6 mln investments in Romania expansion, targets higher turnover this year

Romanian private healthcare operator MedLife plans total investments of EUR 6 million this year, according to the company.

A total of some EUR 4 million will be invested in four new hyper-clinics to be opened in Galati, Iasi, Constanta and Cluj-Napoca.

“We have already started investing in two hyper-clinics in Galati and Iasi, which are to be inaugurated in the first half of this year. The investment program will continue in the second half of the year, when we plan to complete the other clinics in Constanta and Cluj-Napoca. We are also in advanced talks to continue the aggressive expansion at a national level in the coming years,” said Mihai Marcu, president of MedLife’s Board.

Moreover, MedLife will invest over EUR 2 million in modern equipment for the existing clinics.

Company representatives also plan to launch the MedLife Health Card this year, a new product through which patients will have access to their entire medical history.

After ending 2013 with a turnover of EUR 72 million and an operating profit of EUR 10 million, the company foresees better results for this year.

In 2014, MedLife estimates a turnover of up to EUR 83 million and an operating profit of some EUR 12 million, according to the company.

MedLife has been operating on the local market since 1996 and is currently the largest private medical operator in Romania. The company currently runs 9 hyper-clinics, 8 test laboratories, 6  hospitals, 3 maternity hospitals, 28 general medical units, 9 specialized units, 6 pharmacies under the PharmaLife brand, and collaborates with 135 partner clinics.
