Bucharest's newest mall gets more visitors than expected
The number of people who visited Mega Mall, the newest shopping center opened in Romania's capital last week, exceeded the owner's expectations. Mega Mall, developed by South-African investment fund NEPI with a EUR 165 million investment, opened on May 14.
About 400,000 people visited the mall in just 4 days after the inauguration, being attracted by the stores’ promotions and offers.
“The 400,000 visitors exceeded our expectations for the opening weekend. Moreover, most of the fashion and household appliances retailers present in the shopping mall have exceeded their sales expectations,” said Tiberiu Smaranda, executive manager NEPI.
Mega Mall, developed by South-African investment fund NEPI, has a leasable area of 72,000 sqm, out of a total area of 230,000 sqm. The new mall is NEPI’s biggest development so far.
It hosts more than 220 shops, restaurants, and entertainment spaces. On the opening day, the shopping center was 98% leased.
NEPI expects over 10% yield on EUR 165 mln investment in Mega Mall.
