Menzies Aviation expands with cargo handling services takeover at Otopeni Airport, Romania
The owners of Kamino Cargo, a ground cargo handling business at Bucharest's Otopeni airport, have sold their interests to Menzies Aviation, an international airport ground services firm and a part of retail group John Menzies, according to Biris Goran law firm. The value of the deal was not disclosed, nor if the new owners had any investment or restructuring plans. Menzies Aviation already operates ground handling services at Bucharest's airport and the acquisition will add the cargo handling services at Otopeni.
Menzies Aviation operates at airports across the world: Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, providing cargo handling, cargo forwarding and ground handling services, which includes a wide range of airport based activities, from ticketing and checking in passengers, to towing and de-icing airplanes.
Kamino Cargo was founded in 1994 and its first client was British Airways. Since then the company has secured contracts for cargo handling with many of the leading airlines flying into Otopeni.
Two Romanian law firms assisted in the deal – Biris Goran and Zamfirescu Racoţi Predoiu.
