Retailer Metro Cash & Carry will open its 5th store in Bucharest next week, the first such opening in one and a half years for the retailer, after inaugurating the Deva unit. The store will be located within the retail center on Theodor Pallady boulevard, where it will accompany a Real store and an OBI unit. The Real store will open this week. Metro Cash & Carry runs 24 stores in Romania and has been slowing down the expansion in the last couple of years in the country, focusing more on renovating stores, rather than opening new ones.

Metro Group, which runs Metro Cash & Carry and Real units in Romania, posted EUR 1.89 billion in revenues last year in Romania, down 10.7 percent, according to data quoted by Mediafax newswire.
