Microsoft Romania names new general manager
Microsoft Romania, the local subsidiary of U.S. technology group Microsoft, named Violeta Luca as general manager. She replaces Gabriela Matei, who left the company this summer.
Violeta Luca, an experienced manager who previously worked for Metro Cash&Carry, Flanco, eMAG, and Whirlpool Romania, joined Microsoft in June 2015 as Head of Strategy. She then took over as Marketing and Operations Director, in early 2017. At 38, she has over 17 years of experience in retail and IT.
Microsoft opened its first office in Romania in 1996. The company currently has 1,700 employees in two offices in Bucharest and Timisoara. Romania is also the group’s main tech support hub in the region.
Microsoft Romania reached a turnover of over EUR 70 million in 2017, according to official data from the Finance Ministry.
