Mig 21 Lancer crashes in Romania, two crew members dead
A supersonic jet fighter aircraft MiG 21 Lancer crashed Monday near Campia Turzii, central Romania, and the two members of the crew died. Romania's Defense Ministry said in a press release the members of the crew, the pilot and the copilot, died in the crash.
The aircraft was part of a training mission and was heading for the military base in Campia Turzii. The aircraft crashed one kilometer away from the military base, on a scarcely populated area. There were no other victims. According to the ministry, the aircraft belonged to the Campia Turzii 71st Air Flotilla and was on a weather research mission to prepare future training flights.
