Military prosecutors start criminal investigation on recent helicopter crash in Romania
Military prosecutors have started a criminal investigation which targets the recent crash of a military helicopter in Sibiu county, central Romania. Eight of the soldiers on board died and the other two were injured in the accident.
“Following investigations in the case of the military helicopter crash near the Mălâncrav village, Sibiu county, military prosecutors have initiated a criminal investigation for several crimes, including not taking the legal measures for health and safety at work, failing to follow the legal measures for health and safety at work and manslaughter,” according to a statement of the High Court of Cassation and Justice, cited by local Mediafax.
The investigation is “in rem”, which means of the facts, and no person has been indicted yet.
The helicopter crashed at the end of last week, on November 21.
