Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu recently met with the US charge d'affaires to Romania Dean Thompson, and discussed about the need to appoint a new US ambassador to Romania, reports local Digi24. The office has been vacant for nearly two years.

The discussion also focused on the security dimension of the Strategic Partnership, both for implementing decisions taken at the NATO Summit in the UK as well as related to the US defense system against ballistic missiles installed at the Romanian base in Deveselu, which should become operational in 2015.
