Minister: Romania to receive EUR 5 bln EU funds this year
Romania will receive this year European funds worth EUR 5 billion, estimates European Funds Minister Eugen Teodorovici.
The country should spend the money fast, for projects that have a big economic impact, and reduce the gaps between Romania and other EU countries.
The EU funds absorption rate has reached 53%, but Romania could reach this year an 80% rate, Teodorovici said.
However, the European Commission representative in Romania Angela Filote recently said that Romania has the lowest EU funds absorption rate. It is the only country with a rate below 60%. This is 20% below the EU average level.
