Minister: More Romanian kids born in diaspora than in Romania
More Romanian kids were born in diaspora than in the country last year. It was the first time when this happened, said the Minister for Romanians Abroad Andreea Pastarnac, quoting Eurostat statistics.
She added that Romania has over 4.4 million citizens living abroad, but did not mention the number of Romanian children born abroad.
These figures raise “extremely many questions”, the minister said, reports local News.ro.
Pastarnac explained that many of the Romanian kids born abroad don’t even learn Romanian. She said that the ministry has launched a campaign to offer support materials to the diaspora communities abroad for learning Romanian.
Romania yesterday celebrated the International Youth Day.
