Ministry: 500 troops from 8 countries participate in military drill in Romania
A total of 500 troops from eight countries participate in the Platinum Eagle 17.1 military training exercise, which is organized in Galati county between February 20 and March 1, the Romanian Ministry of Defense announced on Monday.
The military drill is part of the Black Sea Rotational Force 17 (BSRF-17) annual exercise, and the troops come from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Romania, Slovenia, Ukraine, and U.S.
The Romanian Army participates in the exercise with 100 troops from the Romanian Land Forces, 15 JTACs (Joint Terminal Attack Controllers), and 30 troops from the Romanian Naval Forces.
BSRF-17 is an annual exercise led by the U.S. Marine Forces Command deployed in Europe and Africa, and takes place in the Black Sea, the Balkans and the Caucasus.
