Missing approval threatens Romania’s most powerful laser project
A missing approval from Romania’s Waters Company threatens the country’s large scale laser project at Magurele, according to Hotnews.ro.
The project’s energy should be provided by 1,000 geothermal pumps, however the permit to start the drilling needed for this geothermal pumps has been due for the last eight months. The Romanian Waters Company says the construction asked for the permit in 2013 and that there’s a rick of polluting water sources. Further technical documentation is needed.
The project director Nicolae Zamfir has asked for the Government support: “We’re being asked something outside the law and I don’t know what the next steps are.” The location at Magurele will host the most powerful laser in the world, under a large European research project.
