Month off for Romanian MPs to get ready for European Parliament elections
Romania's Senators will get an almost full month off their Parliament duties, in order to take care of organizing the European Parliament elections on May 25. The decision was recently made, and involves two days of work next week for the Romanian Senate.
The following meeting would only take place on May 26, after the elections. This means many laws would have to be pushed for further vote. Next week, the Senators will have to cast their vote on 45 laws, as well as on proposals due for approval with no objection.
Members of the National Liberal Party PNL said they were against this proposal to cut work time for Senators. After May 26, Senators will work three days a week in the plenum.
