More people pass through Bucharest’s airports than last year

21 October 2015

About 7 million people transited Bucharest’s two airports in the first nine months of this year, up by 11.4% compared to the previous year.

The most intense activity took place on the Henri Coanda International Airport whereas the Baneasa Airport, which is mainly used for private flights, recorded only about 4,000 passengers. The number of takeoffs and landings on both airports amounted to almost 82,000 during this period, up by 6% compared to the same period last year.

The increase in the number of passengers who transited the two local airports exceeded the general growth recorded at European level.

In 2014, the total number of passengers who transited the airports in Bucharest reached 8.3 million, and the number of landings and takeoffs totaled 102,000.
