More Romanian tourists go on holiday abroad

The number of Romanian tourists abroad increased by 15% this summer, according to data from the National Association of Travel Agencies (ANAT). The most popular destinations were Greece and Turkey, followed by Spain, Italy and Portugal.

Bulgaria hasn’t entered the top 5 destinations this year, after it ranked in the top three for several years, reports local Wall-street.ro. Greece managed to surpass Turkey, as the local tour operators have offered more charters to Greece this year.

The Romanian seaside has also become more popular in the last 2-3 years, and a part of the Romanian tourists who had chosen Bulgaria or Greece in the previous years, have turned to the Romanian seaside, said Alin Burcea, vice president of the National Association of Travel Agencies (ANAT).
