More Romanians choose to eat healthy, but sweets remain popular
Romanians start to pay more attention to what they are eating. Increasingly more people choose to eat healthy products, according to a study conducted by the Romanian Audit Bureau Transmedia (BRAT), quoted by local Mediafax. However, sweets, including chocolate, remain popular among Romanians.
Over half of Romanians, namely 55%, are willing to pay more for food products without food additives, 10% more than in 2006, over 600,000 Romanians saying that their food is mostly vegetal.
Fast food no longer enjoys the same success it did four years ago: only 20% of Romanians eat this type of food on a regular basis, down 5% from 2006.
However, sweets remain popular among Romanians. Over 25% of respondents say they replace usual meals with sweets while a third state that they cannot live without this kind of products.
Over 30% of Romanians eat chocolate at least once a week, the percentage being slightly lower than in 2006 however.
Based on regions, 43% of Dobrogea region’s inhabitants eat chocolate at least once a week, while only 30% of Bucharest residents eat chocolate this often.
The study covers the period between 2006 and 2014, and is representative for the urban population aged between 14 and 64.
