Mother banks send EUR 0.5 billion to Romanian subsidiaries
Foreign banks brought in over EUR 496 million in capital to their subsidiaries in Romania last year, up 74 percent compared to 2009, when exceeded EUR 285 million, according to the National Trade Register Office.
In 2010, the largest capital was received by GE Garanti Bank - EUR 196.6 million, followed by Alpha Bank Romania, with a capital contribution of EUR 71.75 million. Romexterra Bank shareholders contributed with EUR 45.7 million and Volksbank Romania, controlled by Volksbank International Group, has increased its capital by EUR 39.2 million.
Also, Emporiki Bank received EUR 24.8 million to the social capital and Piraeus Bank Romania increased its capital by EUR 14.13 million. The shareholders of CR Firenze Romania contributed with EUR 9.8 million, while ProCredit Bank Romania increased its capital by EUR 5.25 million.
