Movies from Cannes Film Festival screening in Bucharest this October
Movies currently competing at this year’s Cannes Festival will be screened in Bucharest this autumn, according to local news agency Mediafax. The fourth edition of Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest will be held in Romania’s capital city between October 25 and October 31, with the films screenings at Studio Cinema, Elvira Popescu Cinema and ArCuB.
This year, the event will include a retrospective dedicated to one of the most well-known French directors, Maurice Pialat, selected five times in the Cannes competition and winner of the Palme d’Or for the movie Sous le soleil du Satan (Under the Sun of Satan).

Cristian Mungiu, the initiator of Les Film de Cannes a Bucarest, was elected jury member at the Cannes Film Festival’s edition this year. The 66th Cannes Film Festival’s jury, presided over by American director and producer Steven Spielberg, also includes other big names of the international cinema, namely Vidya Balan – Indian actress, Naomi Kawase – Japanese director, Nicole Kidman – Australian actress/producer, Lynne Ramsay – British scriptwriter/director/producer, Daniel Auteuil – French actor/director, Ang Lee – Taiwanese director/producer/scriptwriter and Christoph Waltz – Austrian Actor.
