Romanian PM inaugurates new EUR 25 mln multi-purpose arena in Oradea

20 April 2022

Prime minister Nicolae Ciuca attended on Wednesday, April 20, the inauguration ceremony of a new multi-purpose arena in Oradea, a major city in northwest Romania. He said that the construction cost about EUR 25 million, and most of the investment was covered with money from the government.

“The value of the construction is about EUR 25 million, with EUR 20 million coming from the Romanian Government and EUR 5 million from the local authorities, and, of course, what can be seen around the arena are projects that Oradea City Hall has undertaken and which in turn have cost another EUR 8.5 million, and this comes to show once again that when there is will and coordination, goals can be achieved,” prime minister Ciuca said at the inauguration.

The new Polyvalent Hall can host both national and international sports and cultural events.

“I want to thank all those who were involved in this project, I want to thank the Ministry of Development and the minister for monitoring and making sure that the project can be completed, and, once more, to the mayor and the local authorities,” the PM also said.

According to Nicolae Ciuca, two other sports halls are to be inaugurated this year in Pitesti and Bistrita. In addition, he also said that the government wants to see other objectives completed, “such as schools and hospitals.”
